DMCA and copyright complaints

Soundzilla is a search engine over open sources. We host no music and store no files: the service shows what it finds and prepares a file when a visitor asks for one. We still act on rights holders' notices, and we act quickly.

Where to send it

Send the notice to [email protected]. We review it within 24 hours and reply to the same address.

What the notice must contain

• the work you represent, and whether you are the rights holder or an authorised agent;
• the address on soundzilla.io, or the search query, that the notice is about;
• the track and artist names, so we can tell which recording is meant;
• your contact details: name, organisation, address, phone, email;
• a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised;
• a statement that the information is accurate and that you are acting on the rights holder's behalf, under penalty of perjury;
• a signature — an electronic one is enough.

What happens next

On a complete notice we take the page out of our index, mark it noindex, and notify Google that the URL is gone so it leaves the results in hours rather than weeks. Downloading of that recording stops.

Repeat infringement

A query named in a notice is blocked permanently and never returns to the index. We keep a record of notices and terminate service to anyone who infringes repeatedly.

If a notice was a mistake

The law provides for a counter-notification: if you believe a page was removed in error, write to the same address, [email protected]. We give no legal advice and do not weigh the merits of a claim for you — we follow the procedure.
